About Markdown to PDF Converter

This tool converts Markdown content into professionally formatted PDF documents - ideal for turning a README, technical documentation, meeting notes or a specification into a shareable, printable file. It supports GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) including tables, code blocks, nested lists and an optional auto-generated table of contents with page numbers. The PDF contains real selectable, searchable text, and all processing happens in your browser for complete privacy - nothing is uploaded.

What Markdown features are supported?

This converter supports GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) including headings, bold/italic text, lists (ordered and unordered), links, images, code blocks, inline code, blockquotes, tables, horizontal rules, and more.

Does it support syntax highlighting?

Yes! Code blocks are automatically syntax highlighted for many programming languages including JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, and more. You can enable or disable this feature in the PDF options.

What page sizes are available?

You can choose from A3, A4, A5, Letter, and Legal page sizes. You can also select portrait or landscape orientation to best fit your content.

Can I customize the margins?

Yes, you can choose between narrow (10mm), normal (15mm), and wide (25mm) margins to adjust the content area of your PDF.

Can it generate a table of contents?

Yes. Enable 'Generate table of contents' in PDF Options and the tool builds a TOC page at the front of the document, listing every heading with a dotted leader and its real page number. This turns a long README, specification or report into a navigable, printable deliverable.

Is the PDF text selectable and searchable, or just an image?

It produces real, selectable and searchable text, not a scanned image. Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and code are drawn as actual font glyphs, so you can copy text, Ctrl+F search inside the PDF, and let it remain accessible. This is a key advantage over screenshot-to-PDF tools.

Do tables and code blocks survive the conversion?

Yes. GFM tables are rendered with a header row and aligned columns, and fenced code blocks keep monospaced formatting on a tinted background. Long code lines are soft-wrapped rather than truncated, so no source characters are lost on the right edge.

Are Unicode characters and emoji supported?

The PDF uses the standard Helvetica/WinAnsi character set, so Latin text plus common symbols are fully supported. Smart quotes, dashes, arrows and box-drawing characters are auto-converted to close equivalents, but unsupported glyphs such as emoji or CJK characters are stripped. For all-emoji or non-Latin scripts, keep content in Latin characters for best fidelity.

How do I preview my Markdown?

Click the 'Preview' button to see a live preview of how your Markdown will be rendered. The preview updates as you type when visible.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no strict file size limit, but very large documents may take longer to process. For best results, keep your Markdown documents under 100KB.

Is my content secure?

Absolutely! All conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your Markdown content is never sent to any server, ensuring complete privacy.

Can I upload existing Markdown files?

Yes! You can drag and drop or browse to upload .md, .markdown, or .txt files. The content will be loaded into the editor for review before conversion.
