About Crop PDF
This tool allows you to crop PDF pages by removing unwanted margins or trimming edges. You can visually adjust the crop area using drag handles or enter precise margin values. The tool supports different units (points, millimeters, inches) and can apply cropping to all pages or specific page ranges.
How do I crop a PDF?
Upload your PDF file, then use the visual crop editor to drag the handles and define the area you want to keep. Alternatively, enter specific margin values in the crop settings panel. Click 'Crop PDF' to apply the changes.
What does Auto Detect do?
The Auto Detect feature analyzes the current page to find the actual content boundaries (text, images) and automatically sets the crop margins to remove empty white space around the content.
Can I crop different pages differently?
The current version applies the same crop settings to selected pages. You can choose to crop all pages, only odd pages, only even pages, or a custom range of pages. For different crops on different pages, process them separately.
What units are supported?
You can enter margin values in Points (pt), Millimeters (mm), or Inches (in). Points are the standard PDF unit where 72 points equals 1 inch. Use the unit selector buttons to switch between units.
Will cropping reduce file size?
Cropping changes the visible area of each page but doesn't remove the underlying content. File size may stay similar or slightly decrease. For significant size reduction, use our PDF compression tool.
Is my PDF file secure?
Yes! All processing happens directly in your browser. Your PDF file is never uploaded to any server. Everything remains private on your device.

What is the maximum file size?
The maximum file size is 100MB. This ensures smooth performance in your browser. For larger files, consider using desktop PDF software.
Can I preview before downloading?
Yes! After cropping, you can preview the result before downloading. Use the Preview button to see how your cropped PDF will look.
Does cropping set the CropBox or the MediaBox (will it print/RIP correctly)?
This tool sets both the CropBox and the MediaBox to the new region, so the trimmed size becomes the page's true boundary. That means viewers, printers and prepress RIPs all see the same cropped sheet, not just a hidden visible window, so output and imposition stay consistent.
How do I crop to an exact A4 or Letter size?
Use the Crop to Size presets (A4, A5, Letter, Legal). The tool reads the current page dimensions and computes centered margins to trim every selected page down to that exact sheet size (e.g. 595.28 × 841.89 pt for A4). It auto-matches the page orientation, so a landscape page becomes landscape A4.
Can I crop a scanned or black-background PDF?
Yes. Auto Detect samples the page corners to learn the real background color, so it trims scans and pages with colored or black backgrounds, not only white ones. If a page is uniform or edge-to-edge with no distinct content, the tool tells you so you can set margins manually instead of getting a wrong crop.
Are rotated or landscape pages handled correctly?
Yes. The editor and the crop math are rotation-aware: pages with a /Rotate 90, 180 or 270 flag are measured as you see them on screen, and your top/left/right/bottom margins are remapped to the correct MediaBox edges. Landscape and mixed-orientation scans crop on the right sides.
Does cropping affect text or searchability, or just the visible box?
Cropping only changes the page boundary (CropBox/MediaBox); it does not rasterize or delete underlying text, so the document stays fully selectable and searchable. Content that falls outside the new box is simply clipped from view, not removed from the file.
