WuTools — independent free-tools project
WuTools.com is an independent project, not part of a corporate group. It is not a venture-backed startup, not a side product of a SaaS company — an engineering team building and maintaining 1,400+ free online tools that run entirely in your browser.
The WuTools team
WuTools is operated by an independent engineering team since 2024. The goal is simple: collect the small utilities we use ourselves (unit converters, JSON formatter, base64 decoder, quick calculators) into one clean place — with no ads breaking up the content, no required sign-up, and no upsell. The PHP core, JavaScript front-end, and multilingual translation pipeline are all built in-house.

What we make
WuTools currently hosts 1,418 tools grouped into 18 categories: unit conversion, engineering calculators, developer utilities, text processing, hash and cryptography, data formats (JSON, CSV, Excel), image and audio tools, blockchain helpers, in-browser AI (running locally via Transformers.js), and more. Every tool is translated into 5 languages — English, Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese (pt-BR), and French — as culturally-adapted localizations rather than Google-Translate output, with regional unit notes (kgf/cm² for Brazilian users, dặm rather than miles for Vietnamese, etc.).
Through 2026 we are upgrading the unit-conversion pages into consolidated hub pages: instead of 50 scattered pair-converters (psi-to-bar, bar-to-psi, kpa-to-psi…), each unit family now has one central page with the full conversion table, source formulas, real-world examples, and a 10-question FAQ. Example: Pressure Converter Hub.
How we verify accuracy
Conversion factors are not invented. Every coefficient on WuTools is cross-checked against primary international sources:
- NIST SP 811 — the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology guide for the use of the International System of Units (SI).
- BIPM SI Brochure, 9th edition — the official text from the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures in Sèvres, France.
- ISO 80000-1 through ISO 80000-13 — the international standards for quantities and units.
- CODATA 2018 recommended values for fundamental physical constants.
- IEEE 802.3 for networking-unit conventions.
Each hub page carries a lastReviewed timestamp marking the most recent editorial pass. The full process — sources, verification steps, AI-tool validation, conflict-of-interest policy, corrections — is documented on the Editorial process page.
Funding model
WuTools is and will remain free. No paid plans, no "premium tier", no feature gating. Hosting and development time are covered by Google AdSense placements that load only after the first user interaction so they do not slow the page. We do not insert affiliate links into conversion factors, calculation outputs, or technical copy — advertising and editorial content are kept strictly separated.
