About PDF Resizer
This tool allows you to resize PDF pages to different paper sizes or custom dimensions. You can scale PDFs by percentage, convert between paper formats like A4 and Letter, or set exact custom dimensions. All processing happens in your browser for complete privacy.
What paper sizes are supported?
We support all common paper sizes including ISO standards (A3, A4, A5, A6, B4, B5) and US standards (Letter, Legal, Tabloid, Executive). You can also specify custom dimensions in millimeters, inches, or points.
How does content fitting work?
There are four fitting options: Fit maintains the original aspect ratio and centers content; Fill scales to fill the page (may crop edges); Stretch distorts content to exactly fill the page; Center places content at original size in the center of the new page.
Can I resize specific pages only?
Yes! You can choose to resize all pages or specify individual pages and ranges. For example, entering '1, 3, 5-10' will only resize pages 1, 3, and 5 through 10.
What does the scale percentage do?
Scale percentage uniformly resizes pages. 50% makes pages half size, 200% doubles the size. The page dimensions change proportionally, so a 50% scale on an A4 page results in roughly A6 size.
Will resizing affect PDF quality?
No rasterization happens: only the page box is rescaled, so vector text, line art and fonts stay perfectly sharp at any size, including large enlargements. Embedded raster images are scaled like any image, so heavy upscaling can soften photos, but text and vectors never blur.
Can I add a print margin or safe area around the content?
Yes. Use the Margin / Padding control to reserve a uniform border (in mm, in or pt) on all four sides. Fitted content is inset inside that border so text and figures never sit flush to the trim edge. For print-ready output, prepress typically reserves a 5-12 mm safe margin plus binding/gutter space, which this control guarantees regardless of the source size.

How are rotated (landscape-scanned) pages handled?
Pages carrying a /Rotate 90, 180 or 270 flag (common in scanned and CAD-exported PDFs) are read at their visible orientation, exactly as shown in the preview. The resizer swaps width and height for 90/270 pages and re-applies the rotation when drawing, so the output keeps the correct orientation and scale instead of placing content sideways.
What are the exact A4 vs Letter dimensions?
A4 is 210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 in, 595 × 842 pt). US Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (215.9 × 279.4 mm, 612 × 792 pt). They are not interchangeable: A4 is narrower and taller than Letter, so converting A4 to Letter or back usually needs Fit mode (plus a margin) to avoid clipping content at the edges.
How do points, millimeters and inches convert in PDF?
PDF uses points as its base unit: 1 inch = 72 pt and 1 mm = 2.8346 pt (1 pt = 0.3528 mm). So 210 mm = 595.3 pt and 8.5 in = 612 pt. Custom mode accepts pt, mm or in and converts to points internally, and the New Size readout shows your chosen unit alongside the exact mm value.
What is the background color option for?
When the new page is larger than the scaled content, the background color fills the empty space. Default is white, but you can choose any color for your needs.
What is the file size limit?
The maximum file size is 50MB. This ensures smooth processing in your browser. For larger files, consider splitting the PDF first or using desktop software.
Is my PDF file secure?
Absolutely! All PDF resizing happens directly in your browser. Your file is never uploaded to any server. Everything stays completely private on your device.
