WuTools editorial process

This page documents how we research, verify, and update content on WuTools.com — particularly conversion factors, formulas, and the output of in-browser AI tools.

Sources

Every conversion factor and physical constant on WuTools is cross-checked against one or more of the following primary sources:

  • NIST Special Publication 811 (2008 edition, 2019 update) — Guide for the Use of the International System of Units (SI), U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.
  • BIPM SI Brochure, 9th edition (2019) — the official text from the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures.
  • ISO 80000-1 through ISO 80000-13 — international standards for quantities and units (mechanics, electricity, thermodynamics, light, sound, etc.).
  • IEEE 802.3 — IEEE standard for Ethernet units (bits, bytes, binary prefixes).
  • CODATA 2018 — recommended values for fundamental physical constants (Planck constant, speed of light, Avogadro number, and so on).

Verification process

When we create or update a hub page:

  1. Factor cross-check: every value is compared against at least two independent primary sources — we never copy numbers from the legacy tool.
  2. FAQ review: the 10 questions on each hub are hand-written (no AI generation), with worked examples that match real-world local usage.
  3. lastReviewed stamp: the most recent review date is embedded in the page's schema.org WebPage object, visible to crawlers and readers alike.

AI-tool validation

Several WuTools utilities run AI models entirely in the browser:

  • Face Similarity uses MTCNN for face detection plus a FaceNet-derived embedding model. Reported LFW accuracy is ~99.6%, but real-world performance depends on lighting, pose, and image resolution. Reported in the tool UI.
  • Music Genre Classifier uses a pretrained model trained on GTZAN. Genre labels reflect that dataset's taxonomy and may not match modern subgenre categories.
  • Every AI tool surfaces a "best-effort" disclaimer in its interface — outputs are not legal, medical, or forensic conclusions.

Update cadence

Hub pages are reviewed at least once per year. Conversion factors are updated as soon as an international standard changes — for example, the 2019 SI redefinition (kilogram via Planck constant, kelvin via Boltzmann constant) is already incorporated. Minor fixes (typos, formatting) can land at any time.

Conflict-of-interest disclosure

WuTools is supported by Google AdSense. No affiliate links appear inside conversion factors, calculation outputs, or technical copy. There is no "sponsored conversion factor" and no advertiser pays for higher ranking. Advertising and editorial content are strictly separated — ads only appear inside clearly-marked .adsbygoogle slots.

Correction policy

If you spot an error — wrong factor, wrong formula, typo — please:

  1. Use the floating feedback button in the lower-right corner of every page, or
  2. Email [email protected], or
  3. Open an issue at github.com/mrvuit.

Our commitment: for any verifiable error, we will correct or retract the content within 7 days of receiving a credible report. Minor copy fixes typically ship in 24-48 hours.
