About Color Picker Tool

The Image Color Picker lets you extract precise color information from any image. Upload an image and click (or tap) any pixel to get HEX, RGB, HSL, and HSV values, with full alpha support for transparent PNGs. A built-in WCAG contrast checker turns it into a real accessibility audit step. Everything runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API, so your images are never uploaded to a server. Ideal for extracting brand colors from logos and screenshots, building palettes, and verifying accessibility compliance.

What image formats are supported?

The tool supports all common image formats including JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF, SVG, and TIFF files. The maximum file size is 10MB.

How accurate is the color picking?

The color picker provides pixel-perfect accuracy. It analyzes the exact pixel you click on and returns the precise RGB values, which are then converted to other color formats.

Can I copy color values to clipboard?

Yes! You can copy any color format (HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV) to your clipboard with a single click. The tool also maintains a history of your recently picked colors.

What color formats are available?

The tool provides color values in multiple formats: HEX (for web development), RGB (red, green, blue), HSL (hue, saturation, lightness), and HSV (hue, saturation, value).

Is there a limit to how many colors I can pick?

You can pick unlimited colors from your image. The tool keeps a history of your last 20 picked colors for easy reference and re-selection.

How does the WCAG contrast checker work?

Pick a color and click 'Set as Foreground', then pick another and click 'Set as Background'. The tool computes the WCAG 2.x contrast ratio from each color's relative luminance and shows PASS/FAIL badges for AA (4.5:1 normal text, 3:1 large text) and AAA (7:1 normal, 4.5:1 large). This lets you validate text legibility and accessibility compliance straight from an image.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The tool reads pixels entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, which makes it safe for confidential mockups, brand assets, and screenshots.

How accurate are the color values?

Colors are read directly from the decoded image pixels and treated as sRGB, the standard color space for the web. Values match what browsers render. Note that embedded ICC profiles in wide-gamut photos are not applied, so for color-managed print work confirm against your source file.
