• Specific Window: Record a single application window
• Browser Tab: Capture just one tab (great for presentations)
• Multiple Monitors: Select which display to record

Audio options:
• Screen audio (system sounds) - browser/OS dependent

What video quality should I use?

Choose quality based on your needs:

1080p Full HD (1920x1080) - RECOMMENDED:
• Best for most purposes
• Sharp, professional quality
• Great for YouTube, tutorials, presentations
• File size: ~60-80 MB per minute
• Requires decent CPU performance

720p HD (1280x720):
• Good quality, smaller files
• Perfect for web sharing, social media
• Works well on older computers
• File size: ~30-40 MB per minute
• Recommended for longer recordings (>30 min)

480p SD (854x480):
• Basic quality, smallest files
• Good for quick demos, internal sharing
• File size: ~15-20 MB per minute
• Best for bandwidth-limited situations

Frame Rate:
• 60 FPS: Gaming, fast motion, smooth action
• 30 FPS: Standard (recommended for most use cases)
• 24 FPS: Cinematic look, smaller files
• 15 FPS: Minimal file size, acceptable for slides/presentations

Tip: For longer recordings, use 720p @ 30fps to save space.

Can I record system audio?

System audio (computer sounds) support depends on your browser and operating system:

Chrome/Edge (Best Support):
• Windows: YES - can capture tab audio or system audio
• macOS: LIMITED - can capture tab audio only (not system-wide)
• Linux: YES - usually supports system audio

Firefox:
• Can capture tab audio
• System-wide audio support varies by OS

Safari:
• Limited system audio support

How to capture system audio:
1. When clicking 'Start Screen', choose 'Share audio' or 'Share tab audio'
2. Select the browser tab or window you want to capture audio from
3. Grant audio permissions

Workarounds for unsupported systems:
• Use Screen + Microphone mode to add voice commentary
• Use virtual audio devices (like VB-Cable on Windows, BlackHole on Mac)
• Play audio through speakers and capture with microphone (not ideal)

Note: Microphone audio is always supported in Screen + Mic mode.

What's the difference between the recording modes?

Three recording modes are available:

1. Screen Only:
• Captures screen video only
• Optional: system audio from browser tabs
• No microphone, no webcam
• Smallest file size
• Best for: silent demos, screen captures, recording videos

2. Screen + Microphone:
• Captures screen + your voice
• Optional: system audio + microphone mixed together
• No webcam overlay
• Best for: tutorials, presentations, voiceovers, educational content

3. Screen + Webcam (Picture-in-Picture):
• Captures screen + webcam overlay in corner
• Microphone audio included
• Webcam appears in bottom-right corner
• Largest file size
• Best for: personal tutorials, course content, reaction videos, live commentary

You can select different microphones and webcams before starting the recording.

How long can I record?

There is no strict time limit, but practical considerations apply:

Browser Memory:
• Recording is stored in RAM during capture
• Very long recordings (>1 hour) may cause issues
• Available RAM affects maximum duration
• Chrome: Better for long recordings
• Firefox/Safari: May struggle with >30 min recordings

File Size Considerations:
• At 1080p @ 30fps: ~4-5 GB per hour
• At 720p @ 30fps: ~2-2.5 GB per hour
• At 480p @ 30fps: ~1-1.5 GB per hour

Recommendations:
• Under 30 minutes: Any quality, no issues
• 30-60 minutes: Use 720p or lower, close other tabs
• Over 60 minutes: Use 480p, or record in segments
• Very long sessions: Consider desktop software instead

Tips for longer recordings:
• Close unnecessary browser tabs/apps
• Use lower quality settings
• Record in segments and join them later
• Ensure sufficient free RAM (4GB+ recommended)
• Use a modern browser (latest Chrome/Edge recommended)

Can I pause and resume recording?

Yes! Pause and resume functionality is fully supported:

How to use:
1. While recording, click 'Pause' button
2. Recording pauses, timer stops
3. Screen sharing remains active
4. Click 'Resume' to continue recording
5. Final video excludes the paused time
6. You can pause/resume multiple times

Benefits:
• Take breaks during long recordings
• Prepare between segments
• Remove mistakes without stopping
• Create cleaner, more polished videos
• No need to edit out dead time later

Note: The paused portion is NOT included in the final video. When you resume, recording continues seamlessly. This is different from simply stopping and starting a new recording.

Is my screen recording private and secure?

Yes! Your screen recordings are completely private:

100% Client-Side Processing:
• All recording happens locally in your browser
• Videos are NOT uploaded to any server
• No data is sent to our servers
• Recordings never leave your device
• Works offline after page loads

Permissions:
• Screen sharing permission is browser-controlled
• You choose exactly what to share (screen/window/tab)
• Can be revoked anytime
• Tool only accesses screen while actively recording

Data Storage:
• Recordings stored temporarily in browser memory
• Automatically cleared when you close the tab
• Downloaded videos go directly to your device
• You have complete control over recordings

You can verify privacy:
• Open browser DevTools Network tab (no uploads)
• Disconnect internet before recording (tool still works)
• Check browser permissions settings
• Review browser's screen sharing indicator

Your screen recordings are as private as files on your computer. We never see your content!

What format is the video saved in?

The tool supports two output formats:

WebM (Default - Recommended):
• Native browser recording format
• Excellent quality with smaller file sizes
• VP9 video codec + Opus audio codec
• Instant download (no conversion needed)
• Supported by: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, modern players
• Best for: web sharing, uploading to YouTube
• Fastest option

MP4 (Converted):
• Universal compatibility format
• H.264 video codec + AAC audio codec
• Works on all devices and players
• Requires conversion (takes extra time)
• Slightly larger file sizes than WebM
• Best for: maximum compatibility, mobile devices, older players
• Conversion time: ~10-30 seconds per minute of video

Which to choose?
• Choose WebM if: uploading to web, modern devices only
• Choose MP4 if: need maximum compatibility, sharing with others, mobile playback

Note: MP4 conversion uses FFmpeg.wasm and happens in your browser (still private). First-time conversion loads FFmpeg (~30MB), then converts quickly.

Why can't I share my screen?

If screen sharing isn't working, try these solutions:

1. Browser Permissions:
• Browser blocked screen sharing
• Look for blocked icon in address bar
• Click it and allow screen sharing
• Refresh page and try again

2. Browser Compatibility:
• Use Chrome 72+, Firefox 66+, Edge 79+, Safari 13+
• Update browser to latest version
• Try in incognito/private mode
• Some older browsers don't support getDisplayMedia API

3. Operating System:
• macOS: Check System Preferences > Security > Screen Recording
• Windows: No special permissions needed
• Linux: Depends on desktop environment (usually works)

4. Browser Extensions:
• Disable screen capture blocking extensions
• Try in incognito mode without extensions
• Some privacy extensions block screen sharing

5. Secure Context:
• Screen recording only works on HTTPS sites
• Some browsers block on localhost
• Try from production domain

6. Other Apps:
• Close other screen recording apps
• Exit remote desktop software
• Quit screen sharing from other apps (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

Still not working? Try a different browser or device.
