7Z Extractor
Extract 7Z, RAR, ISO, TAR.BZ2, XZ, CAB and password-protected archives in your browser via libarchive. Preview files, no upload, total privacy.
About 7Z Extractor Tool
This tool extracts files from many archive formats including 7Z, RAR, ISO, TAR, GZ, and more. Select your archive and extract all contents with a single click — nothing is ever uploaded. You can preview and download individual files or all files at once. All processing happens locally in your browser for complete privacy. Try also our Batch Rename and Unzip Files.
Which archive formats are supported?
7Z, RAR (v4 and v5), ISO 9660, TAR (gnu/ustar/pax), GZ, TGZ, BZ2, XZ, CAB, AR, CPIO, ZIP and ZIP64. It is powered by libarchive.js, a WebAssembly build of libarchive that supports dozens of formats.
Can I extract password-protected or encrypted archives?
Yes. When an encrypted entry is detected, a password field appears. Enter the password and click Extract Files to decrypt and extract. The password is used only locally in your browser via libarchive's usePassword API and is never uploaded. Wrong passwords show a clear message instead of a false corruption error.
Which compression codecs are supported?
LZMA2 (7Z), BCJ2 filters, BZip2, XZ, GZip/Deflate and Zstd via the libarchive WebAssembly build. RAR5 storage and standard compression work; some exotic RAR5 BLAKE2 variants may not.
How does the extractor work?
Select an archive file and click Extract Files. The tool decompresses and extracts the archive, displaying all contained files in a tree structure. You can then preview supported files or download them individually or all together.
What is the file size limit?
The maximum archive size is 300MB compressed. Decompressed contents can be larger — we extract one file at a time so RAM usage stays proportional to a single file, not the whole archive. For larger archives, consider desktop software.

Can I preview files before downloading?
Yes. Images (JPG, PNG, WebP), text (TXT, MD, JSON, CSV), and small PDFs render in a side panel. Unsupported types show a generic icon with a Download button.
How do I download multiple files?
Use the checkboxes to select multiple files and click Download Selected, or click Download All Files. Files are downloaded sequentially with a small delay between each to avoid browser throttling.
How is this different from server-side extractors?
Everything stays in your browser via WebAssembly. No upload, no server log, no analytics on file contents. It is also faster — no round-trip waiting in a queue.
Does extraction work on mobile browsers?
Yes, on iOS Safari 16+ and Android Chrome 100+ with at least 2 GB RAM. Heavy archives (over 100 MB) may stall on older phones; prefer desktop for big files.
Is my data safe?
Absolutely. All file extraction happens directly in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your archive — and any password you enter — is never uploaded to any server. Everything stays private on your device.
